Do It Anyway

By May 22, 2010No Comments

Do your kids ever whine about doing something you think will be fun?

Please say “yes’ so I’ll feel normal.

Yesterday my dear friend Lori gave me (and 30 of her closest friends) the game Bananagram.  It’s a personal Scrabble without the board kind of game.  And much more fun than regular Scrabble, in my humble opinion.

Anyway, tonight after we cleared the dinner plates I grabbed the game.  Did my family say “Yippee!  Oh mom, this is exactly what we wanted to do on a Friday night!”  They did not.

So I begged.  Just humor me, people.  Play the game.  I don’t get out much.

Apparently it worked. So we spread out the tiles, turned them over and began building our words.  Two minutes later we were laughing over the totally outlandish words some of us made (the culprits shall remain nameless).

Finally the game ended.  But they next words out of my daughters’ mouths were like music to my ears.

“Let’s play again.”

Sometimes you just have to make your kids have fun.  Hey, we aren’t the grown ups for no reason.  We’ve learned a thing or two our kids don’t know yet.

And that includes how to have fun.

“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter
and your lips with shouts of joy.” Job 8:21
