Out of the mouths of babes…

A couple of days ago our son texted a photo of a “secret message” sweet 4-year-old, Hallie, wrote to herself: “Trust in Jesus Christ.”

It’s a message I needed to hear. We all do.

If you’re like most Christians, you know you need to trust in Jesus Christ for salvation, but the truth of the matter is that we need to trust in Jesus Christ for all our needs—not just salvation.

So, let me ask you a question: What do you need today?

No, really. Stop and think about it. What do you need?

Do you need wisdom? Comfort? Love? Forgiveness? Provision? Healing? Help? Salvation? Direction? A Friend?

The answer to our need begins with trusting Jesus. This is childlike faith at its most pure. Trust isn’t reserved for children; it’s meant for adults, too.

Earlier this year, God placed Proverbs 3:5-6 on my heart as my  “verse for 2023”:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

So, back to the need you face today:

  • Will you trust Jesus to meet that need?
  • Will you trust His presence to be with you in that need?
  • Will you trust him to direct you to handle that need?

Over the course of the last few days, Hallie’s scribbled sentiment has replayed in my mind. Whenever I’ve faced a need I’ve repeated Hallie’s “secret message” in my mind: Trust in Jesus Christ.

Honestly, it’s been a game changer and a faith builder.

“Trust in Jesus Christ.” It’s the secret message we all need to hear for whatever we need today.

You are loved,
