First and most importantly, today is my sweet hubby’s birthday. Happy Birthday JP! 🙂
Although we’ll be celebrating with a family dinner in a few hours, birthday celebrations aren’t at the top of my mind right now. A text message from my oldest daughter keeps running through my brain. The message wasn’t sent to me, but to her sister. Here’s what it said:
Do you think mom would mind if I brought home a dog?
To clarify, let me explain that Kylie is coming home for the Christmas holiday in a few hours. She finished finals and is packing her car, even as I type. This morning I changed her sheets so she could snuggle into fresh, cozy bedding tonight. The house is clean – dusted, vacuumed and mopped. All our clothes have been washed to make room for the mounds of dirty stuff she’ll surely lug through the door.
And I can’t wait to have her home!
But….with a dog????
Those of you who know me personally are either laughing or shaking your head in disbelief. In the past 20+ years of having kids we’ve never once had a dog. We’ve had rabbits. We’ve had lizards. We even had a snake – two, in fact. But a dog? Never.
Let me also explain that Kylie maybe waltzing through our door with not one, but two puppies. Seems a college friend bought them for his mother, but his mother didn’t want them. And I’m wondering why……
So on this day of celebrating my husband, we may also be getting a little surprise. Wonder if JP would like a dog for his birthday?
